Legal aid in court matters

In a court matter, either a public legal adviser or a private adviser that has given his or her consent to the task can be appointed as an adviser.

It is a legal aid office that decides on granting legal aid and on the appointment of a public legal adviser or private adviser. Legal aid is always applied for from there. The applicant should provide the necessary particulars of his or her economic circumstances. You will find the list of declarations and the necessary application form on the web site of the Ministry of Justice.

Legal aid will not be granted if the applicant has legal expenses insurance which covers the matter in question. However, if, on the basis of his or her financial position, the applicant is entitled to free legal aid, legal aid can be granted for covering the deductible of the insurance.
