Ministry of Justice publishes information package for victims of terrorism
The Ministry of Justice has published an information package for victims of terrorism on the Oikeus.fi website. Publishing the information package is part of preparedness work and the promotion of the rights of victims under the EU Directive on combating terrorism.
The Information for victims of terrorism page at Oikeus.fi provides comprehensive information for victims of terrorism and their families. The information is available in Finnish, Swedish and English. The page contains information on, for example, the assistance and support available for victims of terrorism, matters related to criminal proceedings and the possibilities to receive compensation. The page also contains information intended for people who have become victims of terrorism abroad.
The information package was drawn up based on a working group proposal dealing with the information needs of victims of terrorism. If a terrorist attack occurs, the Ministry will separately remind the public of the package and provide more information about it.
The Ministry of Justice acts as the national contact point for the Network of EU single contact points for victims of terrorism. Its task is to provide information on the support, assistance, protection and compensation schemes available for victims, thus facilitating rapid access to information and assistance after a terrorist attack.
